Creamy and Delicious Polenta

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup cornmeal (polenta)

  • 4 cups water

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons butter (or olive oil)

PREPARATION

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. When the water is boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and slowly pour the cornmeal into the water while stirring constantly with a wooden spoon to prevent lumps.

  3. Add the salt to the saucepan and continue stirring regularly to prevent the polenta from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

  4. Cook the polenta for about 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently, until it becomes thick and creamy. The polenta should have a smooth and velvety consistency.

  5. If desired, add the grated Parmesan cheese to the cooked polenta and mix well until it is melted and incorporated into the mixture.

  6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the butter (or olive oil) to the polenta. Stir until the butter is completely melted and mixed into the polenta.

  7. The polenta is now ready to be served. Pour it into bowls or onto serving plates. You can accompany the polenta with a meat sauce (such as beef or pork stew), sautéed vegetables, mushrooms, or any other topping of your choice. Polenta is versatile and pairs well with a variety of flavors.

This creamy and delicious polenta is a comforting and delightful dish that will satisfy your taste buds. Enjoy this traditional Italian dish and savor it with your favorite toppings! Buon appetito! (Bon appétit!)
