Creamy and Delicious Polenta
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup cornmeal (polenta)
- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 2 tablespoons butter (or olive oil)
PREPARATION
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- When the water is boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and slowly pour the cornmeal into the water while stirring constantly with a wooden spoon to prevent lumps.
- Add the salt to the saucepan and continue stirring regularly to prevent the polenta from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Cook the polenta for about 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently, until it becomes thick and creamy. The polenta should have a smooth and velvety consistency.
- If desired, add the grated Parmesan cheese to the cooked polenta and mix well until it is melted and incorporated into the mixture.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the butter (or olive oil) to the polenta. Stir until the butter is completely melted and mixed into the polenta.
- The polenta is now ready to be served. Pour it into bowls or onto serving plates. You can accompany the polenta with a meat sauce (such as beef or pork stew), sautéed vegetables, mushrooms, or any other topping of your choice. Polenta is versatile and pairs well with a variety of flavors.
This creamy and delicious polenta is a comforting and delightful dish that will satisfy your taste buds. Enjoy this traditional Italian dish and savor it with your favorite toppings! Buon appetito! (Bon appétit!)
